Ann Curry
Ann Curry is an American photographer and journalist. She has worked as a journalist for over 45 years, focusing on suffering of people in conflict zones as well as natural disasters. Curry has covered wars across the world, including in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, born November 19, 1956 (Agana) was an American journalist who served as anchor of a newscast on TV. Curry was renowned for her reporting on natural catastrophes and war torn countries. Curry has a father who was a U.S. Navy sailor and the daughter of a Japanese woman. Her father dated her mother in Japan while he was stationed in Japan following World War II. Due to her father's military service the family has moved around several times. Curry was a high school graduate at Ashland Oregon. Following her graduation from the University of Oregon, Curry obtained a bachelor's degree in journalism in 1978. She was exposed to a variety of cultures and experiences throughout her childhood likely contributed to the empathy in her approach to global issues. Curry moved around a lot along with her companion as well as did not go to an institution for more than two full years. She attended schools in San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Her final graduation was from Ashland High School. In Medford, she started her broadcasting career with KTVL Channel 10 as an intern. When she was 22, she was able to become the first reporter to be female at KTVL. In Portland, Oregon she was appointed anchor and reporter by KGW NBC's affiliate. The following year, she relocated to Los Angeles as a reporter for KBS-TV. In her time with the station she was awarded 2 Emmy Awards.
